Glittery Gold Card inspires Christmas Project in Otherwise Unrelated Subject Material.

Printed out some copies of my zine/mini artists' book and turned them into xmas presents for some fellow zine enthusiasts. Mainly because I stumbled across this glittery gold card stock in Eckersleys and after that it just became a kind of imperative.

Jodie's House.

Visiting my friend Jodie's house makes me happy. She is in no way afraid of colour.

Comme Des Garcons.

Late at night, can't sleep. Stumbled across one of my favourite images from Comme Des Garcons 2005 A/W show. The couture detail is sublime. Plus I never get tired of the riffing on Miss Havisham.

2D, Graphics and Printing.

Lately I've been working in 2D, putting together some illustrations and graphics suitable for screen printing. It's been fun working with photo shop layers trying to figure out how this translates into an actual hands on printing process using more than one colour.
I'm going for satire again, my ongoing love/hate relationship with fashion magazines.

Fashion Photography, Molly Goddard.

Gucci Spring 2016.

For my money Gucci's Spring 2016 show could best be described as "Wes Anderson meets Frida Kahlo" with maybe a little bit of Sponge Bob thrown in for good measure.

All in a good way of course.

Lynette's House.

My sister in law is leaving us for a new life in New Zealand soon and we will really miss her. To mark this I thought I would finally post the pictures I took of her small apartment a couple of years back. I thought she did such a lovely job decorating with mostly second hand stuff, books and her Alice in Wonderland paraphernalia.

sPIN.

My work for sPIN - miniature, wearable artwork. The most fun art exhibition to participate in ever.

Grants and Applications.

The Australia Council has just been gutted of something like $120 million previously earmarked for grants. That money wont be leaving the arts industry but will become the purse from which funds for the new Australian 'arts for excellence' initiative will be drawn. The difference? The Australia Council is a peer review system with an arm's length approach to it's funding, encouraging artistic experimentation and the other will rely on Peter Dutton as arbiter of what is excellent. Not entirely sure what his qualifications for that role are but get ready I guess for some safe choices.
Meanwhile I managed to get in an application for the last round of Art Start grants not knowing it would be the last opportunity. The sudden axing of these grants happening a couple of weeks ago after this budget announcement. Can't really say I was surprised.
Anyway an images from my recent application to ANCA for their annual PIN show. Mini wearable assemblages and the chance to work …
